Gahhh! The last few weeks of last term were so busy that I haven't had a chance to post anything since my last apology!!!
Last Friday I finished up with Surgical Oncology. I was supposed to go to the end of term party that night but by 5:30pm (and the end of a fairly horrible clinic) I was too tired and sick to go. I had a very quiet Friday night and then slept most of Saturday, for which I was on call (and luckily no one called me in).
During the day all the residents on our ward gave the nursing staff cake and chocolate to say thank you. And in return some of the nurses had made a little Chinese oyster pail box containing M and Ms and a chocolate cupcake, and a card for each of us! So nice :)
My new job is upper GI surgery. It's much much busier than surgical oncology, but you do have a resident to help out (which is a complete novelty for me, I've never done a job with more than one RMO per term). To be honest the 7:00am starts are starting to wear thin :S I'm working overtime tonight so I'll be here until 11pm. Which makes a 16 hour day. Ouch. To anyone reading this who wants to be a doctor, are you sure it's a good idea? :P
Someone decided to give me an easy introduction into this term though, we only have 12 patients and usually we have double or even triple that! So maybe medicine karma is looking after me a little...
